September / October Dear Storytelling Fans and Friends, News The summer seems undesided as to whether it should stay or go! The leaves are changing colour, the apples are tasting wonderful, and the smell of fresh pressed cider seems everywhere and the buterflies are hgeading to Mexico. It has been a great summer with enough work to keep me busy and enough free time to hang out with my kids! I also got to see Tim Jennings and Leanne Ponder performing and Odds Bodkin, too. I love seeing other storytellers, it is always a treat. In fact if you have not seen Jennings and Ponder or Odds, then I highly recommend them. Both have a good collection of tales and have also have CD recordings. I spent a lot of the summer up at the Mount Washington Resort and Hotel, telling camp fire stories. One evening, a 10 year old boy there wanted to tell his own scary story after I had told mine, letting me know that my story was no where near as scary as his. There were younger children there so I asked him if he could wait until the end as I did not want to send wee ones to bed with nightmares. I believe that scary stories are meant to entertain and give a shiver or two down the spine, make folks jump out of their seat (and allow them to laugh at themselves after), make people cringe or gasp, but not to scare the living daylights out of folks. The youngster thought otherwise! "What's the point, then?" he asked! Enjoyment, I replied. On that note I have some new 'scary' stories that I will be telling in the month of October as well as some old favourites. See the list below of places where I will be. Other than my usual Fright Night performances for all ages I will also be performing at the first ever White Mountain Storytelling Festival telling family friendly tales. This Festival will be happening THIS WEEKEND! There will be around 16 storytellers entertaining from the very young to the more mature audiences. And all for $20 which is a deal for a full weekend! There are three performance spaces, so there will something for everyone. The event begins on Friday the 30th September with Ghost Stories at 7.30 pm. For full details, go to: http://www.nhstorytelling.com/ I hope your summer was as fun as mine was and hope you enjoy the autumnal colours, sounds, sites and smells. Up coming Performances Saturday 1st October Friday 21st October Saturday 22nd October Wednesday 26th
