GRANTS NOW AVAILABLE!

Dear Storytelling Fans and Friends,

To keep up to date with the coming of the CD, check out my Facebook page and also my Blog - http://worldofstories.blogspot.com/

What's New?
This weekend I am off down to Warwick Rhode Island with another storyteller called Tony Toledo to go to the Northeastern Storytelling Conference, Sharing the Fire. It is an amazing event where teachers, librarians, 'regular' people and storytellers get together to learn about storytelling, improve their craft and to share stories.

And I am grant eligable through the New England Foundation of the Arts, which is great news. It means those outside of New Hampshire (sorry about that, NH) can apply for matching grants! So my friends in Vermont, Mass., CT and California can use this to get me there more easily, or at least more economically. Hurray for NEFA! For more details go to: http://www.nefa.org/grants_services/grants_services Go to Matchbook > Find Artist and type my name in and there I am! I hope this helps.

For Teachers:
If you are interested in going to a storytelling conference, the best in the region is happening soon - Sharing The Fire, the Northeast Storytelling Conference. It is held each year and has a number of workshops where CEUs & PDPs are offered for educators in New England and New York. It may be possible for educators seeking recertification to accrue PDPs and CEUs by attending Sharing the Fire/ Northeast Storytelling Conference Keynote Speaker and up to 16 hours of workshop time on Saturday and Sunday that may qualify for PDPs and CEUs. The League for the Advancement of New England Storytelling (LANES) will provide the workshops and the opportunity for you to verify/certify your attendance. The rest of the process is up to the individual as per your situation and state. For many educators, the process will involve forming an individual plan utilizing STF presentations. You may need prior approval of your plan from your local school administrators. Websites for current certification information are provided on the LANES website at www.LANES.org or you can get to a link from the front page of my website by clicking on the LANES logo towards the lower part of the page.

Conference appearance with Simon Brooks!
I am VERY excited to be able to tell everyone that I am appearing at the Connecticut Storytelling Festival in April this spring. Wait! It is just a few weeks away! This is where you can get information on the event which will be featuring Choctaw storyteller Tim Tingle. He is an amazing presenter so if you have not seen him then hurry to the Connecticut Storytelling Center Website: http://connstorycenter.org/ for more details! Other tellers there include Tom Callinan, Simon Brooks (oh, that's me!), Megan Hicks, Tom Lee, Jennifer Munro, Keith Munslow, Teresa Whitaker, Frank Schwartz, Sara deBeer, Connie Rockman and Elllie Toy, Karen Josephson, Bert Mac Carry, Carolyn Stearns and Rivka Willick. This is a weekend event of stories with a few workshops. Sort of the opposite of Sharing the Fire!

New CD
On Monday 14th March Steve Glazer, Rick Barrows, Rachel Clark and I went to Stevens Blanchard's studio to lay down the music for the CD. It was a great evening. Stevens is no only a good engineer and prodcuer, but a great host too. I have re-cording some of the stories (nothing like last minutre changes at the house in my office - aka Studio 68aa! Keep an eye on my downloads page for some of the music, written by Rachel Clark, called: "Waltz at the Edge of the World." I'm working on it!!
